How to Upload a Plugin into Your Developer Portal
After developing your plugin, double check that all of the information in the plugin is correct.
- Author name
- Plugin name
- Plugin description
- Support email
- Plugin settings
- Additional features you need
You should also check the resources folder and make sure that the Plugin icon and Image icon are the right ones before you submit it. Then go to the folder of the Plugin you’d like to upload, right-click and .zip it into the standard format.
Now log into dev.buildfire.com. Click Upload (should be under Plugin Manager section) and select the Plugin folder you just zipped.
Your Plugin should now appear in your list of Plugins under Plugin Manager.
Your Plugins list alphabetically, so if you don’t see it show up at the top, you should find it by surfing through the pages.
How to Update a Plugin in your Developer Portal
Go to the plugin that you’d like to update and click Update.
On this next screen, you will be taken through a few questions. This is to ensure that the updated plugin file that you upload doesn’t accidentally break your app. We want to make sure everything is 100% A-OK!
You will be asked the following questions.
Is this backwards compatible?
Yes: Then you can move on ahead!
No: Then your update will BREAK everybody’s app. Please create a second version that is backwards compatible, then come back to update it OR upload it as a new plugin.
Have you added new required features to your plugin.json file?
Yes: Then you’ll need a hard rebuild.
No: Then you can go ahead and update your plugin! You can do so by clicking the
Will the plugin continue to work without it?
Yes: Then you can go ahead and update your app! Just be aware that it will require a hard rebuild of your app.
No: This means that your app is not backwards compatible. Please create a second version that is backwards compatible, then come back to update it OR upload it as a new plugin.
If you answered correctly, then go ahead and click Upload, select your Plugin zip file, and the plugin will then be updated.
