Events Feed Plugin Tutorial

The Events Feed Plugin is a great way to keep people up to date about your events, schedules, and happenings. By simply adding your iCal feed, the Events Feed Plugin will automatically pull in any new events and adjustments to your calendar that you make.

Note: iCal is an industry standard calendar feed and, therefore, the vast majority of calendars will provide you with one. If you are having trouble with your iCal feed, it’s best to run it through an iCal feed validator like this one (click here) to make sure you are using a valid feed.

Now, onto the Events Feed Plugin.

  • The Events Feed Plugin allows you to sync your Google Calendar, Mac Mail Calendar, or any other calendar with an iCal feed to keep your users up to date with your events.

Creating an Events Feed Plugin

To add a Events Feed plugin to your app, go to Plugins and Add Plugin. Find the Events Feed Plugin, click add, then name it.

Now all you need is an iCal feed and you’re pretty much set! Let’s use Google Calendar as an example. Go to your Calendar. Go to the gear icon in the top right corner then go to settings. Navigate to the Calendars tab and click on the Calendar you’d like to share. Go to Calendar Address, click the sharing settings and make sure you’ve made the calendar public. Then go back and click on ICAL. Copy this link then paste it into the Events Feed Plugin.

Under the Design tab, you can make aesthetic changes to the Events Feed. Change the Design Layout or background images here.

Adding the Events Feed Plugin to Your App

Now the plugin has been created and exists, but is not yet accessible to users. You will need to add it to the app on the Home Plugin, in a Folder Plugin, and/or to the Side Menu. To add it to the Home Plugin, go to Home Plugin, scroll down and click “Add Plugin Instance”. Now select the Events Feed Plugin you created. To add it to a Folder Plugin, navigate to the Folder Plugin and click on “Add Plugin Instance”. To add it to the Side Menu, go to Plugins then Side Menu and click on “Add Plugin Instance”.

Your Events Feed Plugin is now accessible within your app. Don’t forget to click Publish to push out your changes. If you haven’t upgraded, please upgrade so that you can publish your changes. Thank you so much for watching. Be sure to check out our other Help Videos and we’ll see you next time!
