Hi there! And welcome to our Audio Media Player Plugin video.
If you haven’t done so already, please watch our System Overview Video first before continuing. It lays down all of the plugin basics you’ll need for this video.
Now, onto the Audio Media Player Plugin:
- The Audio Media Player plugin is basically the control hub for all audio media on your app.
- From it, you can quickly pause, play, fast forward, and rewind an audio clip.
- You can even create playlists with it.
- The Audio Media Player Plugin works with the Soundcloud, Media Center Manual, and Media Center RSS Feed Plugins.
- This is great if you’re a music producer or podcast host and will be using any of these three plugins to stream your music and audio files.
Creating an Audio Media Player Plugin
Let’s first create an Audio Media Player plugin. To add one to your app, go to Plugins and Add Plugin. Search for the Audio Media Player Plugin in the search field, click add, then name it. I recommend calling it something like “Now Playing” or “Audio Player” given it’s function in the app. For this plugin, we HIGHLY recommend you insert it into your Side Menu by checking this box here. This is so users can easily access it anywhere in the app in order to control the music they’re currently listening to. Then click Add.
And that’s all you have to do, really! The Audio Media Player should now work just as is.
Using the Audio Media Player Plugin
Now, let me quickly show you how your users can use it. Go to any of the audio player plugins we have and click play. You should hear the sound clip start playing. Now, if you navigate away from it, say go to the home screen, then you can quickly go into the Audio Media Player Plugin to control whatever is playing at that moment. From here, you can pause, play, fast forward, and rewind. You can also create playlists with this Plugin. To do this, tap on the three dots here next to the gear symbol and then select “Add to Playlist”. To view your playlist, just tap on “Go to Playlist”.
Now that you’re done, don’t forget to click Publish to push out your changes. If you haven’t upgraded, please upgrade so that you can publish your changes.
Adding the Audio Media Player Plugin to Your App
Before, I showed you how to add it to the Side Menu, but I’ll go through the steps of adding the Audio Media Player to your app again. In the following section, I’ll show you how to add it to your Home Plugin, a Folder Plugin, and the Side Menu. If you already know how to do this, feel free to skip this next section.
If you have the Launcher or Folder Plugin selected for your Home Plugin, you can add it to the Home Plugin by clicking on Home Plugin. Once you’re there, scroll down and click “Add Plugin Instance”. Now find the Plugin you created by searching for the title you gave it, selecting it, and clicking “Apply” at the bottom.
To add it to a Folder Plugin, navigate to any Folder Plugin you’ve created and click on “Add Plugin Instance”, then search for the title you gave it, select it, and click “Apply” at the bottom.
To add it to the Side Menu, go to Plugins then Side Menu and click on “Select Plugin Instance” and, you guessed it, search for the title you gave it, select it, and click “Apply” at the bottom
Congratulations! Your Audio Media Player Plugin is now accessible within your app. Thank you so much for watching. Don’t forget to check out our other Help Videos and we’ll see you next time!
